WATERFORD CRYSTAL RARE FIND: 2 COBALT WINE GLASSESBrothers George and William Penrose founded Waterford Glass House in 1783. Their knowledge of mixing minerals and glass created a crystal that "sang" when tapped and felt "warm and soft" when held. Their craft set the standard for any and all crystal known to this day.Due to excise taxes in the mid 1800s, the factory was forced to close. However, because of its reputation and its place in Irish lore, the company's furnaces fired up again after WWII in Waterford. It remains to this day a fine hand crafted product, committed and crafted to the same rigorous standards as those set by the Penroses. "The crystal's unique formula, which is shared by only a few people, is at the heart of Waterford's durability and brilliance, but it's perfection comes from skill, love, and rigorous discipline: for even the slightest flaw, invisible to most, demands that the piece be shattered and fed again to the furnace."These two wine glasses are rare indeed!!Because a team of 4-7 artisans use primitive tools, such as wooden blocks and moulds, each piece is made according to the knowledge and precision of breaths, dexterity, and strength of each team member. Thus, no two pieces are exactly alike; though they may seem so to the consumer. Adding color to any piece only contributes to the difficulty in crafting the crystal. Tfore, a colored piece is difficult to procure. However, it also makes owning one that much more special. IS YOUR CHANCE! THESE WINE GLASSES ARE A GORGEOUS COBALT BLUE EXQUISITELY DETAILED.And to my chagrin, t are only two. (Which only confirms their rarity.) They are new in box and come with Waterford's COA.
