THIS BEAUTIFUL HAND CARVED WOOD STATUE SYMBOLIZES THE ETERNAL LOVE BETWEEN US MORTALS AND THE GODS. THIS IS A VINTAGE WORK THAT DATES BACK TO THE EARLY 1900'S AND IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. I will be listing a few select relics I have in my possession that i have picked up over my many travels across the himalayan territory- Bhutan, Tibet, Nepal and India! I can safely say all my pieces are genuine period items unlike the majority listed by other sellers as I have only a few and they were acquired not from antique stores in commercial districts but from local grassroots art dealers in very remote districts who were introduced to me by my dharma teachers! I am proud to present this magical "Masterwork" handcarving representing the mythic love story of the Hindu God Krishna with Radha.This intricatley handcarved engraving made from the finest quality wood depiciting the Radha-Krishna amour is a love legend of all times. It's indeed hard to miss the many legends and paintings illustrating Krishna 's love affairs, of which the Radha-Krishna affair is the most memorable. Krishna's relationship with Radha, his favorite among the 'gopis' (cow-herding maidens), has served as a model for male and female love in a variety of art forms, and since the sixteenth century appears prominently as a motif in North Indian paintings. IT IS A VINTAGE PIECE THAT DATES BACK TO THE EARLY 1900'S AND ASIDE FROM THE SLIGHT DIRT AND FADED PAINT IS IN VERY GOOD OVERALL CONDITION THAT EXUDES A SENSE OF ETERNAL TIME AND SPIRITUALITY. This exquisite "masterwork" depicting the God and Goddess Krishna and Radha in courtship is hand carved by master craftsmen in India from the mango wood . The beautiful piece is so intricately detailed and colored that it exudes a sense of timeless dignity and reverence. This hand carved statues stands a towering 2 ft 2 inches tall and 1 ft 1 inches inches across and as you can see from the auxiliary photos, it is painstakingly worked on a three dimensional level. The most charming part of this work has to the way the artist has incredibly been able to sculpt these two incredible deities in the most life-like fashion w they are lost in courtship caressing each other with such passion and romance that Krsihan has even set aside his beloved flute while he charms his maiden Radha in the forests of heaven! The detail on his hands and even each finger as he so delicately grasps his muse Radha while she gazes into his eyes is is mesmerizing and shows the deft touch of this master artist. This stunning statue will touch any room or sacred space with the timeless sacred spirit of India. These mango wood statues are hand carved, hand finished, and hand painted in India by skilled craftsmen. Each one is a unique work of art in itself and a cherished treasure of deep significance.
