These two Japanese woodblock prints are by Ohara Koson (1877-1945). They were printed in 1926. Each print measures 7 3/8 inches by 13 3/4 inches. T are to tears or holes, but t is some staining and fading. Please consider this when bidding. T is color bleed through on the reverse. Koson studied painting and design in his native Kanazawa. He adoped the name Koson from his teacher, the artist Suzuki Koson. In the mid 1890's he moved to Tokyo, he designed woodcuts for publishers, mainly Watanabe. His subjects were mainly from nature, a particular favorite being birds. He completed around 450 designs for woodcuts of birds. Koson changed his name after 1912 to Shoson, and later again to Hoson. These are authentic 1926 prints. No reserve.
