2 LARGE & FANCY OLD CHRISTOFLE SILVER WARMING SERVING DISHES ROUND BOMBE SIDED WITH CARVED HANDLES AND FEET This is a matched pair of fancy carved serving dishes made and signed by Christofle. They are antique and it is very hard to find this older Christofle especially this large and fancy. They are of exceptional quality. I believe that they are missing a burner and a glass insert. T are holes on the bottom and top sides which I believe would be for air circulation. I am not sure how these were used because I have never seen any thing like it. It does not appear that they ever had a lid so that is why I believe it was just a glass insert to hold the food. They have beautiful carved feet and handles which are detachable for easy cleaning and they are attached with wing handled nuts. They are in dirty condition but the plating is ok. If anything, it would be the laquer that shows some deterioration. These will clean up beautifully. T is a minor ding on the bottom of one of them, but being on the bottom, it will never be seen. The marks on the bottom, as shown in the photos below, has one marked with a "C", with numbering, the name "Christofle", and a mark that looks like a scale and a "C" on either side. The other is marked with an "F". These dishes measure 13 1/2" from handle to handle and are 10" round at the rim. They stand 4 1/4" high. A matched, even larger, serving dish is listed in our other auctions along with a Victorian revolving entree server. Thanks for looking and good luck.
