Accepting bids for two photographs relating to German V2 rockets. The first, entitled 'Robot Bomb Found Intact', is of an unexploded V2 rocket found in a US Army 9th Air Force camp. The second shows a large chemical factory 'believed' to be part of the V2 manufacturing proccess in Hahnenberg, Germany. The first photo is an official USAAF photo, the second a 'British Official Photo'. Both are original 1945-made photographs (not later reproductions1), and have descriptions on back. They were formerly in the possession of long-defunct Washington D.C. newspaper, theWashington Evening Star, which received them during the war. The gentleman Ibought these from worked at the newspaper and saved these from the trash when the paper decided to clean house some years after the war. According to him, the newspaper, as well as other local news organisations, received a much wider variety of press photos than their counterparts around the country due to their close proximity to the Department of War/War Information in Washington D.C... hence, this and other photographs from this spectacular collection I will list in coming weeks may be quite rare.Great, crisp photographs have been treated kindly over the last 62+ years. Some age warp, as to be expected from images this size and age..Size: V2 rocket 7 x 9 inches; Secret chemical site 8 x 10 inches.
