(2) Ornate GERMAN PEWTER Glasses 3 Scenes Dutch Painters Thisauction is for a beautiful matching pair of ornate GERMAN PEWTER fluted stemwareChampagne or Beer glasses. Each glass portrays 3 paintings by famous Dutch artists ( Hendrick Sorgh - Rembrandt - Jan Steen). The detail on each glass is very good. The scenes (or pictures): 1) Der Lautenspieler by Sorgh, painted in 1661, has been described as a scene of domestic harmony. T is a man playing a flute for a woman seated at a table. On the table can be seen food, drink, and an open book (? sheet music). The scene also contains a cat and dog, a wall picture, and a view of outdoors. 2) Selbstbildnis mit Saskia, which is a self-portrait by Rembrandt with his wife Saskia sitting on his lap. It was painted in 1634. They are also seated at a table set with food. The texture of their clothing is easily seen. 3) Die Tanzstunde (The Dancing Lesson) by Steen, was painted in 1660. It portrays 4 young people "teaching" a cat to dance. The young girl is playing a flute and t is a dog barking. At the top of each scene t is a plaque with the date of the painting and at the bottom is another plaque with the artists name and year of birth and death.
