THIS AUCTION IS FOR TWO EARLY BOWIE KNIVES THAT HAVE BEEN IN A COLLECTION SINCE THE 1930S. I WAS TOLD THE MAKER P.LEPE WAS FROM NEW MEXICO AND FROM THE 19TH CENTURY. THE SMALLER KNIFE HAS A NICKLE FINISH ON THE BLADE AND IS 9 3/8" LONG THE LARGER ONE IS 11 1/2" WITH THE MAKER MARK AND ARROW AT RICASSO. T IS ENGRAVING ON BOTH THE KNIVES AND SOME WORK ON THE TOP OF THE BLADE OF THE LARGER ONE. THE HANDLES ARE HORN WITH M.O.P INLAID DOTS , FURNITURE IS BRASS . I HAVE ONLY SEEN ONE OTHER KNIFE LIKE THE SMALLER ONE IN THE LAST 15 YEARS OR SO. THESE WOULD BE A FINE GO WITH FOR ANY COLLECTOR INTERESTED IN THE CALIFORNIA GOLD RUSH, TEXAS RANGERS , MEXICAN AMERICAN WAR ETC. I HAVE NO RESERVE ON THESE," A REAL AUCTION" ! THE PICTURES SHOULD DESCRIBE THE CONDITION AND ORIGINAL UNTOUCHED PATINA OF THIS RARE PAIR OF KNIVES .THEY NEED TO BE CLEANED AND OILED PROPERLY BEING WRAPPED IN FABRIC FOR A LONG SPELL.
