The iron work ( magnet attracts ) on this pair of lamps lead me to believe they are very early lamps. Note how the stamens of the flowers are a ball shape and the attaching hardware with the small ribbed washers behind each clear glass flower. Note ,also , the old style brass tag which reads ' Made In Italy '.
Twelve flowers on each lamp. Amazingly, none are missing or damaged. These are somewhat smaller than the later 'showey ' ones. They are each approximately 1 1/4" wide and resemble a daffodil. I believe the urn style base is ceramic pottery. The very bottom base appears to be wood. Felt covers the bottom and I have not taken them apart since owning. The urn may also be metal but I am not totally sure. These lamps have been rewired at some point. The sockets and upper turn switches are both marked with an 'F' in a circle and are 3 - way. May or may not be original. The cords have an old 'Gilbert' in-line switch and the plugs are molded rubber with non-polarized prongs. Both top and in-line switches work. Nice long cords. T is only one harp. It is marked ' Berger ' and I do not know if it is original but it looks nice with the lamp. It has an ebony painted wood finial which compliments the wood base. With harp and finial, lamp is 31 1/4" tall. To top of socket is about 19". Base is approximately 6 3/8" in diameter. A beautiful old pair of lamps. Please , take a moment to view my other auctions.
