Just A Little History Of Hardin County And Kenton...Location: 40.6606 N Latitude, 83.6636 W Longitude Hardin County is located in northwest Ohio. Some of the cities in the county include, Ada, Alger, McGuffey, Kenton (county seat), Mt. Victory, Forest, and Dunkirk. Almost all the major routes in Hardin County meet in Kenton, which was named after Simon Kenton. He was a frontiersman who settled in nearby Urbana, Ohio. Jacob Parrott was the first American Soldier to receive the Congressional Medal of Honor for valor and bravery beyond the call of duty. When he died in 1908 he was laid to rest in Grove Cemetery in the eastern part of the city. Cemetery road was renamed Jacob Parrott Boulevard in his honor.
