TRIBAL PILE WOOLEN HANDWOVEN - NOMAD'S YURT TENT BAND Since ancient times Nomadic tribes took one of the most important part in Uzbek History and Traditions. Nomadic culture rendered a great influence to Uzbek Applied Art. T were very many of Nomad's decorative articles which became very popular for home decoration. Most of Nomad's articles has been made from wool and used as decoration for Nomad's yurt. However every Nomad's articles , even very small bags and pendants were always had their own practical function. One of the most popular Nomad's articles are Tent Bands, which have various sizes, ways of usage, production technique etc. The item on auction is woolen Tent Bands for Nomad's yurt. The age of the items is middle of the 20th century. I came across this beautiful items on the border of Karakalpakstan and Kazakhstan in a small aul. It was hanging in a yurt as decoration. The pattern of the Tent bands consists of magic big and small triangles and ram's horns, meaning protection from evil's fources. It is an usual design of Soumak rugs. Such pieces are very rare nowadays and You can hardly meet it. This piece has beautiful combination of colors. The edges of the band are decorated with handmade woolen fringe.
