T are two Stanley/Bailey No. 4 planes in this auction. They are very different so please read the descriptions: A. The first plane is in near mint condition. It retains all of bright wood surface and finish, has a few scratches on the wood, is in very good condition. It has a razor sharp "HOCK" blade which was Made in France. The bottom of the plane has a grooved surface, see photos. The adjusting knob turns and the blade securing lever works properly. Surface of blade holder has minor surface corrosion. MADE IN THE USA. The HOCK blade is very fine and sells for over $30 on line. See below for information on Ron Hock and his blades. B. The second plane has not been treated a well. It has rust and the wood handles show wear to the finish though t are no cracks etc. The blade has some minor nicks. Knob and lever work, needs a good oiling. Surface of blade holder has corrosion and rust. MADE IN THE USA First plane can go back to work as is, second plane needs a little TLC then will join the first.
