Two (x2) World War II Medals & Ribbon 1 - U.S. American Campaign Medal w/Ribbon plus 1 - U.S. Good Conduct Medal You ar bidding on Two (2) Regular Full-Size (1.25- 1.50 inch diameter) Bronze Tone Medals. They are still in their original boxes. Please see the pictures above/below. I acquired these as part of an estate, but I just can't keep everything and I don't know the personal story behind these particular medals; but according to my research I determined the following: Medal #1 : The American Campaign Medal was a service decoration of the Second World War which was awarded to members of our U.S. Military who performed duty in the American Theater of Operations during World War II. It was created in 1942 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. To be awarded the American Campaign Medal, a service member was required to either perform one year of consecutive duty within the continental borders of the U. S. or perform 30 days consecutive/60 non-consecutive days of duty outside the borders of the United States but within the American Theater of Operations. The American Theater was defined as the entirety of the United States to include most of the Atlantic Ocean, Alaska, and a small portion of the Pacific bordering California and Baja California. The eligibility dates of the American Campaign Medal were from December 7, 1941 to March 2, 1946 . The dates on the reverse of this medal by side of the eagle read " 1941 1945 ". The American Campaign Medal was issued as a ribbon for the entirety of the Second World War, and made a full sized medal in 1947 . The first recipient of the American Campaign Medal was General of the Army, George C. Marshall. This medal is on its original card, poly-covered by manufacturer and in nice clean condition. It has been well taken care of over the decades. Medal #2 : This Good Conduct Medal was a service decoration of the Second World War which was awarded to members of our U.S. Military; however, t was a different medal awarded depending upon the branch of service the serviceman served in. This particular medal being offered was for servicemen in the U.S. Army who served in WW II. During WW II, this Good Conduct Medal was awarded for one year of faithful service and was also awarded posthumously, to those soldiers who had been killed in the line of duty in defense of our nation. This wartime policy was an exception, as traditional ARMY policy states that this medal was to be awarded any enlisted member of the United States military who completed three consecutive years of "honorable and faithful service". Such service implies that a standard enlistment was completed without any non-judicial punishments, disciplinary infractions, or court martial offenses . Service for the Good Conduct Medal was performed on active duty. The Army Good Conduct Medal was first approved for issuance in 1941 and has remained unchanged in appearance since that time. This medal is on its original card, poly-covered by manufacturer and in a very clean condition with some metal oxidation. It has been well taken care of over the decades.
