You are viewing 20 lbs of very high grade, heat treated Keokuk Chert or Peoria Chert. The pictures you see are from past sales for an example, and are very closely represenitive of what you can expect to receive in your purchase. Awesome color, quality, and lots of length is very typical with Peoria and not the exception. You can expect to receive length, width, and thickness able to produce many 4'' to 8'' points and blades. All pieces are hand picked and spawled, careful to work out any fractures or chalk .We will pack your flat rate box with larger scale points and blades in mind. That means you will receive more of the larger pieces than smaller ones. In other words we won't promise length and color then send white flakes. We want you back as a customer. This flint is some of the most workable flint in North America rivaled only by Obsidian, Burlington, or heat treated Novaculite. I have seen 20'' blades made from Peoria. The 6'' blank you see me holding, and the 9'' blade next to it with the orange color is not unusual for Keokuk chert. Peoria is fairly forgiving and a great rock for beginning knappers to learn percussion and pressure flaking.
