Hello, I have up for auction an amazing lot of photos that date back to the late 1800s all the way up to the 1930s. I bought a house in Minnesota Lake a few years ago and found a box of photos in the attic. The box nearly disintegrated as soon as I picked it up. I went through the photos and tried to take as many digital pictures of them as possible. This looks to be an incredible find for anyone interested in the history of the American frontier especially that of the prairie of Southern Minnesota and is packed full of amazing evidence of historical significance. These are photos of the real Lake Wobegon , the real Little House On The Prairie . T are hunting photos, wedding pictures, country picnics, cars, trains, parks, children and horses etc. These photos depict rural farm life and the pioneers that made a life of settling a wild and unforgiving land. A lot of these photos have incredibly ornate and intricately detailed heavy weight paper board that have matting. I can't begin to describe how incredible some of these designs are and how expensive it would be to reproduce them. These photos are a variety of different sizes. Many are about 9" by 6" with matting, while others are 6" by 4". Please email me for more pictures , because I can only upload 12 on Ebay. T are also a bunch that are about 4" by 2". I am not an expert, but I believe that these are CDV's or carte de viste. They were popular in Europe in the mid 1850's and in the US from 1860 - early 1900's. I really love the antique metallic sheen on the surface of many of the photos. Thescratches, fading and discoloration on the surface also seems to givethem a richness and flavor of mystery. I could imagine stories about each one and think about what thier lives were like. Many of the photos have writing on the back, many are blank. I haven't actually gone through and removed a lot of them from their holders to try to find more info. 'T are also 40+ photo post cards included . Some have been mailed with 1cent stamps many are not circulated. Finding a lot of notes on the backs of these. 's what was written on the back of one: Hello, this is not a very good picture of me. The first time I had on my white dress. I am coming home Friday. Papa was coming , but I want to get some things from home so I am coming home instead. Be sure and come home. It then says Sarah from Sis, Ethel. This is just one post card of over 40. It seems to me that the ones with out writing tell more stories. Some of these feature buildings, some feature babies, one looks like a car accident, even one of a little boy dressed like a sailor -really a hodgepodge of different things. I also found a refund check from Montgomery Ward for the amt of .06 cents . Also found a little booklet that says Timothy to Hebrews The Theatre at Ephesus ( dated 1816 on inside cover), These items will also be included. This is an amazing collection of Prairie Artifacts!
