The Personal Property of Marlon Brando will take place in New York on 30 June and will include over 250 lots of property from Brando's Mulholland Drive home where he lived from 1960 until his death in 2004. One of the most important film stars of the 20th Century, Marlon Brando had a huge influence on subsequent generations of actors. He famously shunned publicity and this sale gives a rare glimpse into the private life of the elusive actor. Property from his Los Angeles home includes furniture, paintings, prints, objects and sculpture, and American-Indian artifacts. Much of the property bears testament to the causes to which Brando devoted his life, such as the plight of the American-Indians and the Civil Rights Movement. Brando was a talented musician and the sale also contains many of the musical instruments from his home, including some of his beloved conga drums.
