PCGS online certification is linked below: These low mintage burnished Uncirculated American Gold Eagles were first minted in 2006 and offer precious metal purchasers a new collectible version of the popular American Eagle Gold Bullion Coins. The Uncirculated 'collector version' American Gold Eagles are struck with a limited mintage on specially prepared burnished blanks, produced at the West Point mint and bear the 'W' mint mark. The obverse features Augustus Saint-Gaudens's full-length figure of Liberty with flowing hair, holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. The reverse design, by sculptor Miley Busiek, features a male eagle carrying an olive branch flying above a nest containing a female eagle and her eaglets.The 2008 American Gold Eagle Uncirculated coins are sold-out and no longer available from the US Mint. The latest US Mint sales figures reported by Numismaster show the 2008-W $10 AGE uncirculated coin has the lowest known reported mintage of any Proof or regular AGE issue in the 23 year series. Numismaster reports an estimated mintage of less than 6,300 for the $10 Uncirculated AGE individual coin option and another 3,000 inculded as part of the four-coin set according to the most recent US Mint sales figures reported by Numismaster. In addition, according to a statement issued by the US Mint the burnished 'W' mint mark fractional weights will no longer be produced. Starting in 2009 the only Uncirculated 'W' mint mark American Gold Eagle struck for collectors will be a $50 one ounce coin, pending the availability of gold blanks with no burnished Uncirculated 'W' mint mark fractional versions or four-coins sets planned after a reduction in the number of collector items offered by the US Mint due to the recent low mintages for their numismatic bullion items and the shortage of 22K gold blank availability for their American Gold Eagle Bullion Coin Program: Production of United States Mint American Eagle Gold Proof and Uncirculated Coins has been temporarily suspended because of unprecedented demand for American Eagle Gold Bullion Coins. Currently, all available 22-karat gold blanks are being allocated to the American Eagle Gold Bullion Coin Program, as the United States Mint is required by Public Law 99-185 to produce these coins “in quantities sufficient to meet public demand . . . .” The United States Mint will resume the American Eagle Gold Proof and Uncirculated Coin Programs once sufficient inventories of gold bullion blanks can be acquired to meet market demand for all three American Eagle Gold Coin products.
