This panel is a wonderful 1920's fine Gauze Silk, woven Ikat style it retains some crispness & glows with rich colour. The background is a lovely Raspberrywith dark ivory bands of spiral patterns & floral motifs, the Floral motifs contain a dragonfly each, 2 are in shades of Turquoise & the third is Apple Green & turquoise with a touch of Dove grey detailing. For scale, each dragonfly is about 10 inches across & absolutely beautiful. The condition of the fabric is very good, no issues l can see, t is the uniform patination you would expect from a fabric this age & which in no way detracts from the attractiveness of the panel - in fact it enhances it & gives it its authenticity. It measures 14 ins wide & 45 ins long. A fabulous early silk in great condition & again, l have very little of this to list so dont miss it. Most of my fabrics are sourced from Japan for my own handicraft projects & l sell my excess, so if you see one you like, please bid - it may be the only piece like it l ever list! I do not pretend to be an expert, l am an enthusiast with a love of fabric and want my customers to be happy with their purchase - l would never deliberately mislead. I describe to the best of my ability & am quite 'picky' about pointing out even minor flaws so no nasty surprises. All my fabrics are Vintage and most are taken from Vintage Kimono' s l unpick them very carefully, but by their nature t may be fine pinholes along the seam line & some minor colour change across the seam line - if this is prominent l will comment on it. Vintage fabrics are rarely flawless - and when they are tend to be prohibitively expensive! I do not have the expertise to remove some marks so leave that to those of you who are more expert and for the same reason l do not iron my fabrics prior to sending them out as this may fix discolouration & prevent you using your skills if you choose to do so. I describe colours to the best of my ability but perceptions & monitors do vary so if you have precise colour matches in mind, on line buying may not be for you. Having said that these fabrics are wonderful for their uniqueness, character, often classic design & a quality of manufacture not often seen anymore. Many are works of Art in their own right & more than repay a bit of creativity in avoiding any flaws. Also their natural Vintage Patination ( uniform colour aging NOT mottling or fabric 'rust') adds to their soul & beauty. My fabrics come from a smoke free home - l do have pets but they are not allowed in my fabric room! These fabrics are perfect for all kinds of handicrafts. If you have any problem l will always do my best to sort it out if it is a reasonable complaint - l take pride in my fabrics. Just contact me directly. Just let me know when you have finished bidding. I post out Priority Airmail within 1 or 2 days of receiving payment & it usually takes a week for most destinations. However, recently l have encountered unexpected & long delays on USA shipping on occasion, l do apologise, the fabric is well worth waiting for. I do suggest strongly (particularly if you are buying several fabrics) that you take the option of paying an additional US$6.00 per package (so you only pay it once regardless of quantity) this gives a tracking number & Insurance which may speed things along & at least you can check w it is if t is a delay. I have always found Swisspost very reliable but cannot be held responsible for shipping loss without this additional insurance, Priority Airmail alone does not include Insurance. read more
