1920's vintage enamel compact. This was my grandmother's and I'm, pretty sure it dates to the 20's. Compact measures about 3" across and is made of a silver colored metal, but it is not tarnished, so I don't think it's real silver, but it is surprisingly heavy for it's size. The design in the black center is engraved and reminds me of Japanese chokin or Spanish Toledo gold type work, it's very pretty and detailed- flowers, leaves, 2 birds and a fountain or some sort or urn?. T is a design in the metal under the translucent green enamel. The lid opens to reveal a small crescent shaped mirror (intact) and the rouge and the bottom has the powder and t is still some powder and pink rouge in it. It is marked R&G Co and a logo that looks like a heart shaped padlock. T are some superficial scratches to the enamel, but it is intact. The lid opens and closes easily, however the top does not "snap" down securely. White spots are flash glare- not damage.
