Oct 1862 letter to Keay,- she is heartbroken to learn he has enlisted, begs him and bro Alden to get discharges- Alden is sick in hospital- writer would rather the rebels take her prisoner than lose Him (Alden, w the 16th Maine, dies in 1864). , Rodney Barker is a POW, other family news & repeated longing for Hiram to come home. 4pp ink, w cover, Addressed to "Mr Hiram Keay, Co H 20th Reg, Maine Vols, Washington" comes w service data for Hiram, 2oth Maine,served Aug 1862- Sept 1863, then to VRC., & for Alden Hackett.
