21 1/2" Early Neopolitan Gentleman Creche Figure - Molded Moustache & Goutee, Glass Eyes, & Thigh-High Leather Boots
Up for auction is a wonderful unusual early 21 1/2" gentleman creche figure with an amazing face with a molded goutee and moustache, glass eyes, and thigh high leather boots. This gentleman creche figure is large both in height and stature. This gentleman has a polychromed head, forearms & hands - his legs and feet may be as well. His head is made from terra cotta and his forearms, hands, legs and feet are made of wood. As you can see in the photos, this gentleman creche figure has an exquisitely hand carved face with brown glass eyes, a slightly opened mouth, a molded moustache, a molded goutee and fabulously molded wavy hair. This creche figure has a hemp-covered armatured body. His forearms and hands are intricately and delicately carved - he even has fingernails. He is dressed in peasant shirt with collars under a watered silk vest with fancy trim down the front, matching silk knickers, a gold brocade jacket with up-turned cuffs of a different silk brocade fabric and the most wonderful thigh-high leather boots with leather tassels along the side and toiling and embossed work towards the top. Each of his boots have two holes - one in the ball of his foot and one in the heel for his original stand. As shown in the photographs, the tip of this gentleman's right pointer finger is missing - his hands are in otherwise gorgeous condition - they are wonderfully carved with great detail. Also, he does have paintwear. His clothing does have wear, fading, and a few places of tattering. This creche gentleman figure is truly amazing with a wonderful molded moustache and goutee - not to mention his fabulous leather boots that are in great condition. He is odor free and from a smoke free home. The stand that this figure is using in the photographs is included in this auction.
