My grandfather, Herbert H. Dowd, served during the Spanish American War. He was stationed in the Phillipines. He was with Company K, 6th US Infantry. He was an avid photographer and took and developed many pictures during the war. Up for bidding is this group of 21 actual photos. 4 photos are 5 X 7, 17 photos are 4 X 5. The photos are in very good condition considering their age, t is some discoloration. Most of the photos are described in his hand on the back of the photo. (Presidente & wife, San Jose de Buena Vista, Panay Island, groups of soldiers, Philipino sheiks, plaza of buildings, San Jose de Buena Vista, Federal Building, San Jose de Buena Vista, photos of housing styles, photos of natives, Nipa Shack, Nipa thatched Philipino home, Philipino Constabulary, Hospital, 6th US Infantry, Cook shack, Co K, 6th US Infantry, chow line, Company K, 6th US Infantry. All photos are shown in the first group. The others are a sampling of the set that you will receive. This is a wonderful group of photos for the collector.
