Click to see all our 1925 antique Native American images Offeredis a Sepia American Indian Photogravure plate titled : FACING THE SUNSET THE WANAMAKER COLLECTION OF INDIAN PHOTOGRAPHS AT INDIANA UNIVERSITY I have accumulated these photogravures for years and believe they will be appreciated in the future, much like EDWARD CURTIS PHOTOGRAVURES. WHAT IS A PHOTOGRAVURE? They are in VERY GOOD condition 9" x 6" page size.. They have wide blank outer margins, They were printed in a very scarce book of photogravures published in 1925.They are later than those photogravures issued in 1913 and 1914, but are much scarcer, as they were published in a very small edition published by the NATIONAL AMERICAN INDIAN MEMORIAL ASSOCIATION PRESS. The photogravures are on thicker paper, and represent an improvement over the photogravures of the 1913 book.They were created by the A.W. Elson and company.The introduction to this book of photogravures expresses appreciation to the company with these words "--GRATITUDE---FOR THEIR UNSTINTED PATIENCE, PAINSTAKING ENDEAVOR AND UNRIVALLED SCIENCE AND SYMPATHY IN TRANSFERRING FROM THE NEGATIVE TO THE PHOTOGRAVURE PLATE EVERY ESSENTIAL AND ESTHETIC PHASE OF THESE PICTURES The prints are fully guaranteed to be in original, unaltered condition,and to be over 75 years of age.
