22 Large Albumen Photographs of Italy . Most of the photos are of Rome . All photos are identified in the negative, and all photos are s igned in the negative by the well known photographer Alinari. They measure approximately 10 x 7.5 inches. Ca. 1870. They depict a variety of subjects, including street scenes, panoramas, monuments, and art objects. Most photos are removed from an album, and many of them bear traces of boards or papers on the reveres w they were partially glued. Nevertheless, an excellent lot with, often, beautiful and sharp images. Giuseppe Alinari (1836-1892) was a major Italian photographer. Fratelli Alinari with his brothers founded the firm of photography in Florence in 1852 and thus it is the oldest firm in the world in the field of photography . The cultural objectives and the working methods of the Florentine studio became a distinctive mark and were imitated throughout Europe .
