The Royal Mantel and Furniture Company was incorporated on May 10, 1892 with a capital stock of $100,000. The following officers were elected: R.C. Lind, president; J.P. Lundell, vice president; D.R. Peterson, secretary and treasurer. On July 6, 1938, the Royal Mantel and Furniture was dissolved. ( http://www./reghist/RC%2057.htm ). The table includes a slide made by the Watertown Table-Slide Company, which is still in business today. The Watertown Table-Slide Company was established in 1889 with Emil W. Schultz as president; Max H. Gaebler and Richard Blaesius ; and the business was incorporated in 1891. Its capital in 1917 is twenty-fine thousand dollars with an earned surplus of sixty thousand dollars also in the business. ( /Articles/WatertownTableSlide.htm ) This set was bought from the famous Mayo Furniture Company (started prior to the Mayo Hotel) in Tulsa , Oklahoma . The Mayo pioneers who came to Tulsa , I.T., at the turn of the century gave much to the City of Tulsa . The Mayo brothers, natives of Randolph County , Missouri , joined forces in Tulsa in 1903. Like other pioneers, Cass A. Mayo and John D. Mayo made their mark in business. Their first business venture was a furniture store located at Second and Main . The store's success was due to the fact that the brothers worked seven days a week. Success brought new locations and the furniture store finally found its permanent home at Fifth And Main in 1908, in a five story building the brothers erected. That building, which eventually was expanded to ten floors, was their first real estate venture in downtown Tulsa . ( /hof/mayo.html ) This link shows a Mayo Furniture Company calendar which has the company's address as being in Indian Territory, as Oklahoma was not a state until 1907. ( /ShowShopItemDetails.Asp?itemId=475 ) The set has been in my family since its original purchase. Due to the history of the store it was purchased from, family history, and the company who made the set, its production date is estimated to be around 1892-1908. It is a complete set, grand, and gorgeous. Feel free to contact me with any additional questions, information that I may not already know, requests for more photos, or delivery questions.
