JAPANESE BUDDHIST SHAKUJO Listed is a vintage Japanese priest staff SHAKUJO from the mid Showa period (1950~1970). Shakujo are used during Buddhist ceremonies. The design is such that the metal head is loose, enabling a particular action when waved or shaken. It is in good contition with some rust in the nail holding the head to the wood staff & some slight overall wear (see photos). Dimensions: 15" or 38cm long. The rings are 2" or 5cm across.
