259 Chess Set - ANRI - Lowe "Renaissance" Presentation SetThis set was issued by E. S. Lowe, a subsidiary of the famous high end manufacturer ANRI. It is a modest version of the famous wood carved ANRI "King Arthur" set.The set includes the folding board, a pamphlet explaining the rules and history of the game and description of the pieces. The set is housed in a handsome travel case.The king is 4.1/2" high. The pieces are made from injection molded plastic and all are in "as new" condition, and felted. The case has some scuffing . . . it was issued in 1958.This set would make a great gift for a younger person but is also sought after by collectors of vintage sets.NoteMy father built his collection of chess sets with pride over many years and cared for each set meticulously. But now, sadly, with advancing age, he has decided to part with his prized sets for others to enjoy. I have many more sets from his collection available in prices ranging from $10 to $5,000.
