The 25 hand-sewn silk stars are single-appliqued, with reverse cutout stars, and configured in straight rows. The silk canton and stripes are all hand-sewn. There is a linen sleeve with 2 brass grommets; the sleeve is ink-stamped ANNIN & CO. MAKERS N.Y. Arkansas was admitted as our 25th State. Annin & Co of NYC began making flags in 1847 and brass grommets were first patented in the mid-1850s. The quality of the flag and its sewing is reminiscent of flags used during the Civil War. The size is similar to military `camp colors` and may have been made for a Wisconsin regiment to be carried during the Civil War. 18.` x 29`.
