Scott 26A, 3c type IV perf 15 1/2, 1857. Very well-centered single (VF+) tied by light black circular datestamp cancel (probably June 3, date unreadable, city appears to be "Hudson".) To Edward Gaul, Box No 185, New Haven CT. Reverse with penciled identification "U. S. #44 / Slight Double Transfer / Broken Transfer - retouched / 2L11L / Smear in upper left rosette." Other than a small tear in the flap from opening, the cover is in VF condition.
