In place of having this for a day of rest, our duties are made more ardious than on any other day - at least such has been the case so far. Last Sabbath morning we commenced playing for inspection about nine o'clock and did not get to leave the parade ground until after 2 o'clock. Played almost incessantly for over five hours. This day we had pretty much the same thing over only we got through a little after twelve. I have now had my dinner and Andy, Alex & I have came up the mountainside to read our bibles and to commune with those we love. You cannot imagine how happy I was to receive your dear good letterI was expecting a letter when I heard that the Sutler had arrived. Andy & I went down to the boat the first thing in the morning. We met the chaplain on his return from it. He had some letters but none for either of us. At the boat we found Charlie Dunlap. He brought several letters but none for me.
