This auction is for a stunning example of a highly pyritised multi ammonite fossil containing the species Crucilobiceras densinodolum from the world famous Jurassic Coast beach of Charmouth, Dorset UK. The fossil measures 28mm (1 1/16 inches) across with matrix. It has a lovely golden colour and shine. There are 3 beautiful Crucilobiceras ammonites in this nodule. This is a classic example of a multi ammonite death assemblage; multiple animals which met their end together and came to rest on the sea floor, being preserved in this interesting fashion. A beautiful and unusual piece. Charmouth is the only place in the world where these fantastic pyrite multi ammonites can be found and they are getting rarer. The perfect unique Christmas gift idea. Around 195 million years old, this fossil would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
