29 WWII World War II V-MAIL LETTERS COLLECTION LOT Wonderful collection of 29 World War II V-mail letters. 23 of the letters are dated throughout 1944 and the other six from 1945. With the exception of one letter to someone in Philadelphia by another soldier, all other letters appear to be written by the same soldier to either Schuylkill Haven or Bloomsburg , Pennsylvania . Although I have not read these particular letters, content found in V-mail is usually very entertaining and provides great insight to the daily lives of these brave men. V-mail stands for Victory Mail and was a system for delivering mail from United States troops to home addresses during World War II . V-mail correspondence worked by photographing large amounts of censored mail reduced to thumb-nail size onto reels of microfilm, which weighed much less than the original would have. The film reels were shipped to the US , sent to prescribed destinations for developing at a receiving station near the recipient, and printed out on lightweight photo paper. These facsimiles of the letter-sheets were reproduced about one-quarter the original size and the miniature mail was delivered to the addressee. PayPal only. Flat $5 shipping. V-mail envelopes not included. Thank you for looking and please be sure to check out my other auctions for more great historical documents.
