These three beautiful outfits were rescued from an Estate Sale and belong in the hands of a serious collector. They were labeled Navajo, but I can't verify that. What I can verify is that the wonderful metal work on the outfits makes music with each movement. The metal clinks together with every step. I'm guessing that these were used for dancing and celebrating. The colors are vivid and the attached ribbons flutter with movement. Two adult sized and one child sized outfit are in this set. T are no rips or tears, though some of the metal has rust spots. When my daughter stood in the above purple dress, I could only imagine the joy that these dresses expressed in the movements of the original wearer. They're not ceremonial, but are worn at Pow Wows, and they're interpretations of old time dresses, but are not Navajo. ANSWER: Redwood" snuff lids. I don't know the exact size of these dresses... My daughter is pictured wearing the purple one. She wears size 6 jeans and a med. shirt. 5'7. With a tape measure, the waist is about 46 in around. T are about 320 metal cones on the big dresses. The little outfit is a shirt with legs to tie on (For a little boy maybe) 4-6 Toddler. 80 cones or so on that one.
