We have some miscellaneous pieces of sterling we are listing today for barely over their scrap price. Most are very old, ornate and heavy. Be sure to look for other items you might like. are three old souvenir spoons. Two are made by Reed & Barton. The other was made by R. Blackinton & Co.By R. Blackinton & Co. is a sterling 'October' spoon. In the bowl of the spoon it reads: "October. October's child is born for woe, and life's vicissitudes must know; but lay an opal on her breast, and hope will lull the woes to rest." At the base of the front of the spoon is set an opal. Not big, but very pretty. Spoon is 5 1/4" long.The longest spoon is from Reed & Barton manufacturers in the TRAJAN pattern. It is 5 3/4" long, heavy and has a 'C' engraved in back, in script. (By the way, all the 'C's you see in the listings of our miscellaneous sterling actually stands for 'Carpenter'. Thought you might be curious.) In the bowl of the Trajan spoon is this: "Psi Upsilon / Amherst, Mass." and a picture of the sorority house in the day.The final spoon is by Reed and Barton manufacturers, with a beautiful violet motif. It measures 5 1/8" long. Engraved in the bowl "Jolly Dozen" and on the convex part of the bowl (back) "Oct. 12, '04".Combined, they weigh 2 troy ounces. Three beautiful old spoons which will clean up real well with a nice hand polishing.
