3 C 1906 POST CARDS-SHAKER SISTERS & SHAKER VILLAGE-NR...NOTICE-5 DAY AUCTION...As I looked through a box of post cards that I recently found in Mid Coast Maine, I was both shocked and excited to find these three post cards depicting Shaker Sisters at the Shaker Settlement at Enfield, NH and the Shaker Meeting House at Mt. Lebanon, NY. The two from Enfield are in mailed and written on condition but they are truly wonderful-one showing a group of 5 Shaker Sisters sitting on the steps of one of the village buildings and the other one showing what is probably an elderess standing in front of the Church family building. These two cards are not marked by the maker-perhaps they were made in the village itself? These are actual photographs of the Sisters. The third card is also an actual photograph but it is marked by the maker on the back. It says Pub. by H. M. Gillet, Lebanon Springs, N.Y. Made in Germany. This card is in very good never mailed condition. The picture of the meeting house is very clear and shows the two front doors w the men and women entered seperately. These are wonderful pieces of Shaker memorabilia and would be a nice addition to any Shaker or post card collection. I am listing them with no reserve so have fun bidding.
