I have owned these authentic and original diaries since 1982, which I purchased at the peak of my collecting of Civil War diaries and letters. Thesehave never been published and are being offered for sale for the firsttime in 25 years. Please see my 100% positive, 1500+ positive feedbacks and bid with confidence. These are three diaries and an original 7th Maine Battery document of AUGUSTUS P. GRINDEL who served in the 2nd and 7th MAINE.It took me a while to figure out that after the war, for some reason, he slightly changed the spelling of his last name to Grindle. He is one and the same soldier, however. GRINDLE is w you'll find him in the Soldier's & Sailor's Records, so I put that name in the eBay title in case you looked him up online. He is also listed under Augustus P. Grindell as well. I did just a very little research on him so that will be the fun of the next caretaker of these diaries.Grindel (Grindle) was born November 26, 1839 and died in Penobscot, Maine on April 2, 1908.His wife was Inez Ella Perkins. She was born on March 7, 1852 and died on October 20, 1935.Grindel's name appears in all three of the diaries.Grindel was engaged in many bloody and historic battles including Bull Run, the Siege Of Yorktown, the PenninsularCampaign, and the Battles of Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville.I have never transcribed these
