This auction is for a beautiful 3 pc set of Davidson Cloud Glass. It is in the Amethyst color and has a beautiful swirl to it.
First introduced by Thomas Davidson in 1923, "Cloud Glass" was made by adding trails of semi-molten dark colored glass to a gather of lighter colored semi-molten glass that had been laid in the mold. The plunger mold was then lowered and raised, resulting in the cloud-like trails being fairly randomly spread and integrated into the body of the piece. The first color produced was purple in 1923, followed by amber in 1929, orange in 1931 and green in 1934. In 1929 a red colored cloud glass was introduced and finally in 1934 a modified orange range was produced. This set has been used and the frog needs to be cleaned but I will leave that for the new owner to do. The bowl measures 12 3/4" across the top, 5 1/4" across the base and stands 4" tall. The stand measures 6" across the top, 8" across the bottom and stands 2" tall. The frog measures 3 1/2" across the bottom and stands 3" tall. I can not feel any chips or cracks on these pieces. The frog has some funny white coloring on the bottom of it but I can not feel any chips or cracks. This could be from being in moisture. On the bottom of the frog is "7830 1910 Patent Made in England".Shipping anyw in the Continental USA is $19.95 with insurance optional but recommended. All International bidders should contact me for shipping costs. Pleasee email any questions that you may have.
