I am selling a very large collection of Railroad books, many 1st Edition, some signed and numbered, I will be listing these books for the next several weeks, please check back often to see my new listings . is a very fine & rare 3 vol. set of Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad in the Nineteenth & Twentieth Century , by Thomas Townsend Taber & Thomas Townsend Taber III.. These are hardcover books issued with dust jacket were published by Thomas T. Taber III, the first book and second book are first printing, first EDITIONS ©1977, 1980, both numbered 687, the 1980 book is signed by Taber III , the third book is a second printing numbered 2378 @ 1981. The 1977 book, The "Nineteenth Century" volume includes the history of the formation and development of the D.L.&W. 'Family' of railroads, and their locomotives, which, in the following century became one of our most admired and beloved railroads. It also includes a description and geneology of the locomotives used on these railroads, and their disposition in the reorganization of the motive power department in 1899 and is illustrated throughout with b/w photographs, drawings, timetables and route maps. Endpaper route maps. The DJ has very light soiling, corners have slight bumps, almost looks like it was hardly used, with only the very slightest wear noted. The interior of the book is in fine condition - no tears, rips, folds, stains or markings. . The "Twentieth Century" Part 1 covers the history and operation of the DL&WR during its last 61 years of operation. Part 2 covers the history and operation of the ferries, the freight activities in New York harbor, public relations and advertising, locomotives and cars, and a station listing giving information concerning every named point along the railroad. A total of 1184+ pages with photographs, maps, diagrams and rosters. Map endpapers. Facsimile of May 19, 1901, time table laid in. Each volume is fine with upper corners mildly bumped, in fine and bright white dust jackets with just a hint of edge wear.
