1930's 1940's VINTAGE ANTIQUE CHINESE ORIENTAL PALACE LANTERN LAMP This six sided wood and glass antique Chinese lantern is sometimes known as a palace lantern. Palace lanterns first appeared during the Qing dynasty (1644-1911). Usually hung in pairs at the entrance of palaces and temples, this palace lantern would look great anyw It has a hand carved wooden frame construction that is stained a dark mahogany or rosewood color. T are a total of 12 wood and frosted glass panels (6 large, 6 small). The design (flowers, court ladies, butterflies) is stenciled and hand painted on to the glass panels with a reverse glass painting technique. This creates a stained glass effect that is really quite lovely. The lantern measures approximately 14 inches high and 15 inches wide. It is not electrified, but can be easily wired. Your local hardware store should be able to help. It is collapsible for easy shipping. This lantern is in excellent condition. In or out doors, this lantern would surely add a distinctive and romantic touch to any décor and would be the perfect decoration for outdoor summer parties. It certainly is a conversation piece!
