Vintage Petrol Lighter Spare Parts. 1930s-1950s Vintage Petrol Lighter Spare Parts. Dunhill, Thorens, Ronson, Parker, Mosda, Colibri, Polo etc "Trench Art" flint columns and other brass parts for Vintage lighters – a good selection. All shapes and sizes. View the picture. What you see is what you get. Trust me. Other eBay lots will offer a different selection of parts. A very fine collection of unused spare parts from the 1930s through to the 1950s. We may even have some parts that could be used on lighters from World War One. There are Springs of many different types, Body Parts, Flint Wheels, Pivot Pins, Flint Columns, Filler Caps for Petrol and Filler Caps for Flints , etc. The source of this unusual collection was a grey painted steel cabinet/spares chest with multi-drawers divided into numerous sections. This cabinet had originally stood on the shop counter in a Tobacconists shop during the 1940s and 1950s period and was commercially supplied to the Tobacconist as an all-happening source of spare parts for a wide selection of Petrol Cigarette Lighters that had been sold in Britain during the previous 30 years. The shop was closing down and I came along and bought the cabinet complete with all the remaining spare parts. This was late 1970s, so say about 35 years ago. Since that time I have kept all the spare parts nice and safe in my workshop but disposed of the empty cabinet which was too utilitarian and unattractive to be worth keeping. I am now offering this collection of spare parts broken down into lots and grouped into types and functions. The body parts are grouped into one lot, springs into another, pivot pins into another etc. etc. Obviously I run the risk that a collector/repairer will greatly value certain attractive lots like the filler caps or the nickel plated body parts but will under-rate the less attractive lots like springs or pivot pins. This would be a mistake. Some of these lots contain critically important functional items. These items would be near impossible to re-fabricate today. How do you re-fabricate a one off carbon steel flint wheel or an elaborate spring. One last thing. One of the lots contains brass Flint columns and other parts that were obviously used in the manufacture and repair of First World War "Trench Art" lighters made from Rifle Cartridge Cases. I presume that these "new" parts could have been used to create "Trench Art" lighters well into the 1930s and 1940s (or even today). Condition : Generally all the parts are in very fine original condition, but the flint wheels, as they are made of pure carbon steel, have a slight patina of rust on a few of them. Similarly the springs – most of them are in fine original condition but a few have a light patina of rust – nothing critical.
