This dressing table or vanity and bench is part of a five-piece bedroom suite made by the Simmons Company in the late 20s or early 30s. One of Simmons' designers was Norman bel Geddes; whether he designed these pieces, I don't know. A classic example of Art Deco styling, with graceful curved base and bakelite pulls. All pulls are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks. Three small drawers on each side, with a glass shelf in the middle. The glass is original to the piece and has yellowed slightly with age, which looks beautiful. T is a small chip on the underside of one corner of the glass, but it's not obvious and doesn't affect the top. Nice detail on the base. All interiors of drawers are in original painted condition, with some wear. Exterior metal has been finished with a hand-rubbed paste-wax finish, and t is extensive pitting, scratching and discoloration of the metal, as with most vintage metal furniture. the bench is upholstered in antique Chinese silk. The other pieces are listed separately: a dresser or chest of drawers, and a nightstand. I have not listed the matching bed, which is a full-sized, simple curved metal headboard and footboard, but will be happy to sell it along with the other pieces. the vanity is 47-3/4" wide x 17" deep x 22-1/2" tall. The bench is 21" wide x 14" deep x 16-1/2" tall. I am checking into shipping options, but I believe it will have to be trucked, ie, by Craters and Freighters. I will update this listing when I have more info. Please feel free to email with questions. Thanks!
