36 VOLUMES COMPLETE SET THE WRITINGS IN PROSE AND VERSE OF RUDYARD KIPLING EACH VOLUME ILLUSTRATED By Rudyard Kipling Published by Charles Scribner's Sons from 1911-1937 Over-all this set is in G+ - VG condition. Maroon cloth-covered boards with white embossed seal of elephant and svastika on front board of each volume. Gold lotus illustration on spine of each volume. This seal represents the elephant-headed Ganesha, the god of auspicious beginnings (with special relation to books). Maroon boards have tonal variations from sunning: generally a browning of the spines. A few books (noted below) have a green cloth-covered boards. Minor soil and minor edge rubbing to boards. Heavier rubs and a couple of chips on two or three volumes (noted below). Gilt to top page edges. Each volume has previous owner's small address label neatly affixed to the top corner of the front pastedown. Bindings are tight and square with no tears or cracks to gutters. Pages are clean (a rare marginal smudge) with no tears, chips or marks. Published by Charles Scribner's Sons, New York, from 1911 - 1937, these books are unifrom in size at 8.25" x 5.75".
