3d of 3 Boer War Queen's South Africa Medal Canada Named From the estate of a local collector. The Queen's South Africa Medal, award to Canadians serving in South Africa,11 October 1899 - 31 May 1902Gorgeous silver medal with a bust of the Queen, "Victoria Regina et Imperatrix." Reverse image is of Britannia holding aloft a victory wreath, pointing at the "r" in "South Africa," but without the dates of battle. Please see reference sites below for a great article about the reverse variations of this medal. Both sides have crisp relief great patina, some wear scratches, please see photos.Edge engraved, "1337 Pte P. Baily, Cape Police Di." Edge engraving very clear.The medal is on a swivel fob-like attachment with a red black and orange grosgrain ribbon. Ribbon has some very little wear soil, no fading. Four battle bars: Orange Free State; Defence of Kimberly; Relief of Mafeking; and Cape Colony. T is no pin. Measures 4-1/2" long,1-7/16" diameter. Comes with its own protective plastic case.
