TWO 3M-SCOTCH ‘996’ GOLD REEL-TO-REEL NAB-10½� -1/4” REELS I am offering TWO matching Gold Anodized 3M-SCOTCH ‘996’ precision 10.5”-1/4” NAB METAL REELS. These reels are excellent and their plastic containers are perfect. As you are probably aware, in 1996/97, 3M pulled out of the magnetic tape business, selling its assets to Quantegy (which itself is a spin-off of Ampex). Unfortunately, in January 2007, Quantegy discontinued the production of most of its audio/video tapes and reels: ( /press/DiscLetter07.pdf ). These reels are extremely attractive on any reel-to-reel recorder! The starting bid is only $49.95. FYI: All vintage reels and tapes which I am offering on eBay are from my personal collection and were purchased from a few major Hollywood studios in the 90s (when they switched to digital). All reels and tapes were handpicked. Sometimes the reels may have very minor sights of studio use, such as very tiny scratches or they may be in perfect condition; the same goes for their boxes.
