Its great success was demonstrated in the media of the time, which featured both promotion and accounts of the train and its impact upon visitors. Its 37160 mile tour lasted from September 17, 1947 to January 22, 1949. Over 3 million people went aboard the Train during its display. My father, the late Edwin D. Culp, was an author of several books on Oregon and Railroad history. He had a large collection of Oregon and Railroad memoribilia. Much of what I list belonged to him. My sister, under CULPRID eBay userid, auctioned much of the collection a few years ago. She is helping me get started, which is why my userid is similar.
