A beautiful set of four Chinese Imari porcelain tea bowls and saucers, QianLong period, 18th century description: This is an attractive group of four antique Imari porcelain cups and saucers originating from China. A vivid cobalt blue color is painted under the glaze, while the iron red and gilt decoration is applied over the glaze. The saucers are decorated with a bird sitting on a branch of a tree in a fenced garden, and have a plain backside. The bowls are painted with floral and geometrical patterns, including a single flower pattern on their inside base. The objects are unmarked.These lovely objects were made for the export market to Europe and are dating to the QianLong period, which covers a large part of the 18th century.(1736 -1795). Imari porcelain was often traded by the Dutch East Indies Company, which had special trading privileges to China and Japan (Decima Island). The wealthy Dutch upper class adored the subtle Imari porcelain and large quantities were shipped to Holland in the 17th and 18th centuries. Although manufactured to be used, most of this Oriental porcelain was displayed in special China cabinets in distinguished houses.Condition: Two saucers are in perfect condition, without any damages or repairs.
