4 CHRISTOFLE OLD FANCY SILVER PLATE FORKS Presented for sale are 4 spectacular, silver plated lunch or dessert forks by Christofle. One of the photographs shows 12 forks, but this auction is for 4 forks. This silver plate pattern was made in France by Christofle, probably in the late 1800s or early 1900s. The detail and the design on these forks is very sharp and crisp. The forks are accented with a C scroll, ashell top design and a central floral spray. T are bellflowers and a modified shell nestled in and around the design on the shaft of the fork near the tines. These forks are excellent in every respect. The forks are stamped on the front in two places near the tines. Christofle is spelled out on one side and the Christofle maker's mark consisting of a set of scales flanked on each side with the letter C, a spread of stars at the top, two shafts of wheat at the base, and the number 84. The 84 may stand for 1884 which may be the year in which these forks were manufactured. The forks are beautifully made and are in excellent condition. T are no breaks, no cracks, no dents, no repairs, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no problems of any kind. Each fork is 7 1/4 inches long.
