Steuben "American Ballad Urns" Engraved and Signed by Sidney Waugh (Born 1904 - 1963) Amazing detail - featured by an American icon is an extremely rare full set of four (4) urns with lids by Sidney Waugh for Steuben. T are four etched designs including a cowboy, trapper, pioneer, and indian. Each urn has its own lid with features a beautiful nob with vertical controlled air bubbles suspended within it. The base of each piece also has vertical control bubbles. These each measure approximately 5 1/2" tall and have all been signed on the bottom, "Steuben" and on the front by Sidney Waugh himself. They are all in beautiful condition and appear to have never been used. THIS SAME COLLECTION WAS GIVEN AS A PRESIDENTIAL GIFT : The same American Ballad Urns are featured in various Steuben publications including one titled, "Steuben Crystal in Private Collections". As I have shown in the photos, a set of these etched urns was given from the United States to the president of Guinea: Sekou Toure . is a rare opportunity to purchase the entire set in perfect condition. is a biography of the artist from : "Born in Amherst, Massachusetts, he attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was briefly in Rome and then studied in Paris with Emile Bourdelle and Henri Bouchard. At Salon exhibitions in 1928 and 1929, he won bronze and silver medals. From 1930 to 1933, he studied at the Rinehart School of Sculpture in Baltimore and then spent another three years at the American Academy in New York. He is mainly known for his accomplishments in his long time job as chief associate designer for Steuben Glass.
