Up for auction is a lot of four Victorian cast iron bill hooks or receipt holders. They are part of a small collection of bill hooks collected over the past 20 years. I purchased them at various antique shops throughout the northeast. They are all in very good condition for their age with no breaks or cracks in the castings, minor paint wear, minimal to no rust, and slightly bent to virtually straight hooks. The top left bill hook with its lyre-like style is a design I have seen reproduced; but, I did purchase this one as vintage and believe that it most likely is based on its weight and the quality of the casting. It measures 6 1/2" x 3 3/8" and is in very good condition with no damage. The hook pictured on the top right has a raised design in the casting and a patent date of November 5, 1872. It measures 6 5/8" x 2 1/4" and is in very good condition. The design of the bottom right bill hook resembles a building with a columned doorway and sloping roof. The piece measures 6" x 2 3/8" and is in very good condition other than a minor casting flaw, original to the piece, on the edge of the bottom right leaf design. This truly does not detract from the piece and I don't think I ever noticed it until doing this description.
