CONDITION: Most of the pieces are unused and have full gold trim. Naturally, you may find a piece or two with a small mark or two on them (t aren't any chips, cracks or any other damage)!
DESCRIPTION: The base china is a slightly off-white glossy bone china and the pieces have gold edge decoration. My photos are quite clear and I show close-ups of the different pattern elements so I don't think a long description is necessary. No wonder that this is one of the top Wedgwood patterns - looking at a plate is like looking into a flower garden (butterflies, bugs and wonderful flowers). The flowers and butterflies are every color of the rainbow - green, blue, brown, purple, yellow, rose, pink, lavender and gold.
Comments: According to the owner the set was purchased in 1957. She was going to buy serving pieces, but never felt the need (since she decided not to use the set). As with most of my sets, this was another "china closet set" (as I like to call them) a set that decorated an the china closet and was never used. The set was removed once a year for a cleaning. I purchased the set when the owner moved to a small apartment w she didn't have room for her china closet - unfortunately t weren't any children to inherit the it. is a list of the pieces included:
Eight Cups (2 1/8" tall)
Eight 10 3/4" Dinner Plates
Eight 8 1/8" Salad/Luncheon Plates
Eight 6" Bread & Butter Plates
This is an exquisite pattern! If you want to add color and interest to your dinning table - this set will certainly do it (that is if you can keep it out of your china closet? You should be able to find serving pieces on eBay (individual pieces appear regularly). When I checked the matching services, I was amazed to find that dinner plates were about $60.00 each. Still, I guess this shouldn't be a surprise when you consider the Wedgwood name and such a scrumptious pattern!
