Plaster or Chalkware Bottle Holding Hand Chateau Martin Brand Wines Display We Have Never Seen Another Very Interesting backbar advertising piece came from an estate where there were lots of Alcohol related advertising items dating from the late 30's into the early 60's. Hand is a little bigger than true hand size; it measures about 9" tall and 6" wide. The way the bottom of palm cutout is configured, I would say this is designed to hold a wine or champagne bottle with a punted bottom. A punt, also known as a kick-up, refers to the concave dimple at the bottom of some wine bottles.Bottom surface is a little uneven, so holder "quivers" a little bit on a flat surface. If it was mine to keep; felt stick-on dots would do the trick to stablize it for display. Stamp on bottom is hard to read, but is something to the effect that it is from a company in NY,NY and appears to say "Returnable for Deposit". No, the bottle of sparkling cider is not included, you have to provide your own bottle. This would make an amazing lamp if it was affixed to a base and holding a wine bottle with a lamp socket in the neck!! Check out my other items !
